This is actually a joint-venture project by the Malaysia and Japanese government. Universiti Malaysia Sabah is involved.
The geographical location of this site is shown below.
This 100kW system is installed in Marak Parak (Latitude 6.2o North, Longitude 115.3o East), Sabah, Malaysia.
This system is divided into two types, one is provided with a water spray cooling (Active system) and the other is without a water spray cooling (Passive syetem). Effect of the cooling was studied on PV generation performance by comparing various data acquired from these two systems.
This system has a burden of supplying electricity to an isolated village. As a generating power station, it has a capasity of supplying electricity to over a hundred house holds.
Since the photovoltaic system is a renewable source of energy, it gives Marak Parak an advantage of being an ecovillage. Indeed, Marak Parak is an ecovillage with an ecotourism potential. Click HERE to find out more about the ecovillage.
